Epson TM-U220A — the customer's receipt and your copy from one machine

When a sale has to leave a paper trail on your side of the counter too, running two printers is an expensive way to do it. The TM-U220A prints the receipt for the customer and winds a second copy onto a spool inside the case at the same time. At closing you take the roll and file it, and nobody has to explain to the bookkeeper where one receipt went.

Impact print survives the archive

The TM-U220A strikes the paper with a pin instead of burning an image with heat. The journal copy is still readable years later, unlike thermal paper that fades in a warm store room. A two-colour ribbon also gives you a red line against the black — useful for refunds, or for order lines the kitchen needs to notice.

It tolerates kitchens and stock rooms

This machine has been in restaurant kitchens for decades for one reason: grease, steam and heat do not bother an impact mechanism. The cutter separates the ticket automatically, so the chef is not tearing paper with wet hands.

A good fit for

Restaurants and cafés that want their own copy of the kitchen ticket, and businesses with an accounting or regulatory reason to keep a paper duplicate. Not a fit if you want a fast 80 mm till printer: a thermal model is clearly quicker and quieter for that. If you do not need the journal copy, the TM-U220IIB in the same family costs less.
