Star mPOP — cash drawer and receipt printer, one device

Counter space is rarely something you have to spare. The Star mPOP solves two problems at once: the cash drawer and receipt printer share a single housing, so you get both functions without doubling the footprint. Because it opens from the front, you can push it right up against a wall or slide it under the counter without leaving clearance on the sides.

At 308 × 100 × 300 mm (W × H × D), the mPOP takes up no more counter space than a standalone cash drawer — and it replaces the printer that would otherwise sit next to it.

Everything you need to get started

The mPOP ships with a power cable (both EU and UK plugs included), a USB cable, and a double-sided tablet holder that mounts directly on top of the unit. Place your iPad or Android tablet on it and you have a complete counter setup without hunting for extra hardware.

Connectivity covers most setups: three USB-A ports, one USB-C (for iOS devices), one USB-B, and Bluetooth 5.0. Run it wirelessly, or plug in a cable if you prefer the certainty of a wired connection — either way works.

Printing when the queue builds up

Direct thermal printing means no ink ribbons to run out of or replace mid-service. The printer takes paper up to 58 mm wide with a maximum roll diameter of 50 mm — a standard size available from any paper supplier. At up to 100 mm per second, receipts print quickly enough to keep things moving even when the counter is busy.

Cash drawer capacity

The drawer holds four banknote sections, six or eight coin slots, and one slot for cheques. That covers normal café and retail use without the drawer being oversized or taking up space you don't have.

Why it makes sense for a small business

In a conventional setup, the cash drawer and receipt printer are two separate devices — two power supplies, two sets of cables, two potential points of failure. With the mPOP it's one device: one plug in the wall, one connection to your point-of-sale system. Fewer cables on the counter, fewer things to think about when something goes wrong.
