About

Honeywell 1962g – wireless 2D barcode scanner for daily use

The Honeywell 1962g is a cordless barcode scanner built for everyday use in shops, cafés, and workshops. Lift it off the cradle and you're free to move — no cable trailing across the counter, no restriction on where you scan. Serve the customer on either side of the till without thinking about it.

What's in the box

Everything you need to get started is included:

  • Honeywell 1962g cordless 2D imager
  • Charging and transmitter cradle (presentation-style, sits on the counter)
  • USB cable, 2.7 m, straight, black

The cradle charges the scanner while it waits between scans and doubles as the wireless receiver between the scanner and your till or computer. USB is the most common setup and works plug-and-play on most systems — connect the cradle and the scanner is usually recognised without installing drivers. If your setup uses RS232 or keyboard wedge (KBW), those interfaces are supported too, so the scanner fits your existing equipment regardless of how it's wired.

Built to handle the counter environment

IP52 means the scanner is protected against dust and direct water droplets. It won't survive being submerged, but it handles the normal wear of a busy counter — damp hands, the occasional splash from the coffee station, dusty workshop air. That's the reality of daily use, and the 1962g is rated for it.

2D imager — what it means in practice

A traditional laser scanner reads only horizontal 1D barcodes. The 1962g's imager also reads QR codes, Data Matrix codes, and other 2D symbols — including codes displayed on a customer's phone screen. Digital gift cards, loyalty programme check-ins, mobile coupons: all of these work directly from the screen without printing anything.

SR (Standard Range) means the scanner is optimised for normal hand-held reading distances — the kind you encounter at a till, a café counter, or a workshop reception desk. It isn't designed for scanning across a warehouse aisle, but for your environment the range is exactly right.

Five-year warranty

Honeywell backs the 1962g with a 60-month warranty. Five years is a long time to get value from a single purchase, and it means you won't be looking at a replacement scanner any time soon.
