About

Datalogic Gryphon I GD4590 — a dependable 2D barcode scanner for daily use

The Gryphon I GD4590 is a handheld 2D barcode scanner from Datalogic, built to handle the daily grind of a shop floor, café counter, or workshop desk. White illumination keeps reads consistent regardless of ambient light, while the Green Spot feedback projects a small green dot directly onto the barcode the moment a successful read is confirmed — no need to glance at a screen or wait for a beep to know it worked.

Connects to most till systems without hassle

The GD4590 supports RS232, KBW, and USB interfaces, which means it will slot into most existing point-of-sale setups without requiring you to replace other hardware. The interface cable is ordered separately, so you pick exactly the cable your till needs — nothing redundant, nothing missing.

The scanner ships with a permanent base stand included as standard. The stand keeps the scanner upright on the counter and frees your hands when you're not actively scanning — a small detail that makes a real difference during a lunchtime rush or a busy Saturday afternoon.

Built to take knocks and keep working

The IP52 rating means the scanner handles everyday dust and the occasional liquid splash at the counter. It is not fully waterproof, but it holds up to the kind of daily punishment a busy hospitality or retail environment throws at it. Datalogic backs the unit with a 60-month warranty, which is a straightforward signal that they expect it to last. The scanner is manufactured in Vietnam and comes in black.

Who is the Gryphon I GD4590 for?

This scanner is a good fit for a small retail shop, café, or restaurant that needs a reliable 2D reader up and running without a complicated setup process. Because it reads both traditional barcodes and QR codes, it handles gift cards and digital receipts just as easily as product labels — useful if you're seeing more customers present their phones at the till.

If you're unsure which interface cable works with your current till setup, get in touch with Vaivatta before ordering — we'll help you choose the right one so everything works from day one.
