About
Epson UB-E04 – Ethernet Interface for Receipt Printers
The Epson UB-E04 is a dedicated network interface card that installs inside a compatible Epson receipt printer, giving it a wired ethernet connection. It's a practical upgrade for cafés, restaurants, and shops where the till and the printer sit at opposite ends of the counter — or even in different rooms. A cable connection removes the wireless interference you might otherwise run into during a busy Friday evening.
Connections and networking
The card has one RJ-45 port (10Base-T/100Base-TX) that connects directly to your network switch or router. DHCP is supported, so the printer picks up an IP address automatically on a typical office or venue network — no manual IP configuration required. If your setup changes later, there's also a USB-A port where you can attach a separate Wi-Fi dongle to switch to a wireless connection, or run both side by side. The dongle is ordered separately.
ePOS support
The UB-E04 supports Epson's ePOS protocol, which lets your point-of-sale system send receipts directly over the network without installing a printer driver on every computer. In practice, that means adding the printer to a new till is straightforward — no IT visit needed.
